Re the council’s failed promises on the gull dangers:
I find the council very inept at carrying through their promises, especially when two years ago myself and another flat owner in the same block went down to a couple of meetings held in the Newcastle Packet regarding the seagull problems.
Constructive ideas were raised to cope with the issues.
I suggested vacuuming the eggs from the nests, moving nests to headland, warnings printed on fish and chip packets do not feed and so it goes on.
With promises made by the council to do something back then and nothing done, no wonder we have lost all faith in the people who represent us.
We are now two years down the line, the gulls have had two more breeding seasons, so lots more gulls and mess, the mess is not even cleaned up in town and stinks. I have been on the beach and seen tourists and people who live here feed them, so no wonder they swoop when they see food.
As with anything else in this town, when will the council make a decision and act on it?
