Lifeboat flags up big total

SCARBOROUGH’S Lifeboat Flag Day has been hailed a “resounding” success after raising more than £3,800 for the charity.

The event, which was a precursor to the town’s Lifeboat Weekend, saw volunteers collect £3821.12 on the day.

Colin Woodhead, Lifeboat Flag Day Organiser, said: “The day was cold but the generosity of the public in Scarborough shone through enabling the money to be raised by the many volunteer collectors who willingly gave their time to help.

“I would also like to thank the many businesses in Scarborough who allowed collections to be made on their premises.

“Flag day is our main fundraising event each year and this year has been a resounding success.”
