THE force is with a group of fundraisers who plan to take over a Scarborough bar for a charity event.

Scarborough woman Lisa Dixon has organised a sci-fi themed night at Mist Bar in St Thomas Street.

The evening is designed to help Miss Dixon raise money for a sponsored trek around Mount Everest in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Miss Dixon, who is a supply teacher and teaching assistant at Friarage School, said: “I climbed Kilimanjaro last year for Marie Curie Cancer Care, and raised more than £3,700.

“Next year I am planning to do a base trek around Everest for the same cause, and this event is one of the fundraisers for the challenge.

“I was trying to come up with different ideas for fundraising from what I did for Kilimanjaro, and when I approached Mist Bar the owner Tony Snow came up with the idea of a sci-fi night.

“I’m really looking forward to it, and looking forward to seeing everyone in their costumes.”

The sci-fi night, which is being held on Saturday March 5, will see all staff at Mist Bar in fancy dress, and customers are invited to join in the fun.

There will be a collection on the door, as well as a midnight auction, and a competition for the best costume.
