Irton tree drama - Watch as the police try to talk down protestor

Waiting for Video...

POLICE tried to talk protestor Mark Snow down from the Irton beech tree which he has vowed to make his home for “as long as it takes.”

The 36-year-old, also known as Snoz, refused the request at around 12:40pm today to applause from villagers.

Mr Snow, of St Johns Road in Falsgrave, climbed the tree at 9:15am.

North Yorkshire County Council, which had sent a team to cut the tree down, have confirmed that the 55ft specimen will not be cut down today.

They are now seeking legal advice before deciding on how to proceed.
