RISING Scarborough star Jake Pratt has landed one of the lead roles in a top West End show.
The 12-year-old comedian is starring in Billy Elliot in which he plays the role of Billy's best friend Michael.
Jake, who was praised as a "star in the making" by Amanda Holden on Britain's Got Talent, performed the first show at the Victoria Palace Theatre earlier this week.
His mum Joanne said: "He had to do a comic performance for his audition, as Michael is quite a funny character. We were all so happy when he got the part.
"I watched the opening night and it was absolutely fantastic. He did really well. The show was very emotional and we were all in tears."
For the role Jake has to tap dance and took part in an intensive 10-week dance programme.
Mrs Pratt said: "He had done tap dancing with the Scarborough Dance Centre so he had the basics. He has been working really hard though and it showed on stage. He did really well."
Since appearing on Britain's Got Talent in 2007, when he made the semi-finals, Jake has appeared in several TV shows, including the CBeebies series Green Balloon Club.
He has also provided the voices of several cartoon characters. He voices Wibbly Pig in a cartoon based on the books by Mick Inkpen.
For the cartoon Claude, broadcast on the channel Playhouse Disney, he provided the voice for grizzly bear Boris.
And in the Cartoon Network show Gumball he voices the fish Darwin.
Mrs Pratt added: "Since Britain's Got Talent Jake has done so much and we are all so proud of him. Seeing him on the West End stage was incredible."
