Objects relating to superstition and magic are the subjects of the next store tour of the Scarborough Collections on October 7.

Scarborough Museums trust collections manager Jennifer Dunne will lead Black cats and witch traps, which will look at charms, amulets and other folklore objects with magical and superstitious significance held in the trust’s stores at Woodend.

“Hallowe’en is fast approaching, so I thought it would be a good time of year to take a look at some of the more unusual folklore items in the collections,’ said Jennifer.

Collections tours, costing £3, are on the first Tuesday of every month. Each takes around an hour, and participants are asked to meet at Scarborough Art Gallery at 2pm. To book call the gallery on 01723 374753.
