Scarborough Army Cadet Reece Hudson is quite literally jumping for joy following his performance at the recent Army Cadet Force County Athletics Championships which saw him earn four gold medals - including long jump - and a silver.
With just over two years’ service with the Army Cadet Force, Reece, 17 also topped his day of success by being awarded Best Male Cadet in the county.
The Yorkshire Coast College student, from Barrowcliff, is no stranger to the sporting field having also represented Scarborough detachment at rugby, tug of war, athletics, and cross-country.
Reece regards his most recent achievement as his proudest, with his medal-haul coming from long jump, 1500m, 200m, 100m relay and tug of war.
He said: “I was quite astonished to be awarded best male cadet out of all the cadets in Yorkshire North and West, many of which were a lot more experienced than me. Having put my mind to it, I am proud to have achieved a great deal.”
The high-flying Cadet Corporal is now looking forward to the regional event this month, where he hopes to achieve similar results and earn him a place at the National Athletic Championships.
