A SCARBOROUGH steel erector hung himself after struggling to come to terms with his wife’s and best friend’s affair, an inquest heard.
Richard Draper, 32, was discovered by his wife Laura at the home they shared together in Ewart Street on June 26 this year.
During his inquest his wife of eight years told the coroner she had been in a relationship with his friend at the time of his death.
She said that after finding out about the relationship Mr Draper had threatened seven or eight times to take his own life, and they had discussed splitting up.
After hearing the evidence coroner Michael Oakley said: “It is clear from the circumstances in which he was found and from the background relating to the break-up of his marriage, as a result of a relationship that had started between his wife and his best friend that Richard Draper clearly suffered a considerable amount of anxiety.
“I am satisfied that he intended to take his own life and I shall record a verdict that he killed himself.”
