Man in hospital after crash

An injured man has been rushed to Scarborough Hospital after what police are calling a “serious” road collision.

The collision between a man and a pedestrian took place on the A171 Whitby to Scarborough road at 5.40pm on Thursday 5 December.

It happened near Fylingdales Service Station and involved a car and a man who was a pedestrian.

Police have closed the stretch of road while the collision scene is investigated.

Local diversions are in place and the road is expected to remain closed for several hours.
