Man rescued from car on Scarborough road

Fire crews were called to release a man from his car after it skidded off the road on the A171 at Cloughton.

The incident happened just after 8am on Monday.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Our crews from Scarborough and Robin Hood's Bay attended an incident on the A171.

"A vehicle had skidded off road through a fence and hedge with the driver trapped inside.

"Our crews were able to release the driver, male in his 30’s, using their cutting equipment.

"The driver was then left with the ambulance crews after suffering suspected spinal injuries and later, taken to hospital."
