The Mayor of Scarborough has visited McCarthy and Stone’s new age exclusive Retirement Living development for the over 60s, which is currently under construction in Scarborough on Newby Farm Road.

Mayor Simon Green donned his hard hat and hi-vis jacket to join site manager Robin Connell and senior marketing executive Laura Wigglesworth, to take a tour of the upcoming development.

Set to offer 25 stylish one bedroom apartments and 17 spacious two bedroom apartments, the Retirement Living development is already attracting a high level of interest from those over 60 in the area.

Mr Green said: “It was a pleasure to visit McCarthy and Stone’s wonderful development and take a look while it is still under construction.

“Developments like this are a great asset to the town as they provide the perfect solution for people aged 60 and over who are looking to downsize, but don’t want to compromise their standard of living.

“The end result leaves a more fluid housing chain in and around Scarborough, and frees up housing stock for families and first time buyers who want to stay in the local area.”

Liz Green, regional sales and marketing director for McCarthy and Stone, added: “We are delighted the Mayor was able to take time to visit our new development as it begins to take shape, and to have a look at the plans for the fantastic apartments we’re set to offer. McCarthy and Stone aim to deliver high quality age exclusive Retirement Living that helps homeowners stay independent for longer, and we’re excited to see construction at our Scarborough development begin to take place.”
