A church choir in Scarborough is looking to welcome new members.
The choir at The Way in Seamer Road has been going for the past three months and is asking people to get in touch if they would like to join.
The group was established after posters were put up in locations around Scarborough, including the Women’s Centre and Cambridge Centre.
Musical director Rachel Farrant said: “It’s a new thing for everybody - none of us have been in a choir before. It’s for anybody of any ability.
“It said on the poster to get in touch if you love singing and that’s the only requirement.”
The group meets at the church on Tuesdays and Fridays from 1pm to 3pm. Anyone wishing to find out more is welcome to call in.
Rachel said: “We sit down together and decide on which songs we’re going to sing.
“It’s a mixture of church songs and modern music, such as Westlife or Bridge Over Troubled Water.
“Everyone gets on really well and it’s very sociable. On a Tuesday we sit and have dinner together first.”
The choir currently has nine members including the church’s vicar, Rev Nathan Barnard.
Rachel said: “I managed to rope Nathan into being in the choir! He’s got a really good voice.”
The choir has been rehearsing eight or nine songs with a view to doing performances at a later date.
Rachel said: “Everyone is more than welcome to join us. If you’ve got a passion for singing, come along!”
Feel free to call in to a rehearsal or call Rachel for more details on 07790 830267.
