YOUNGSTERS from St Peter’s RC Primary School choir will be taking part in a Christian Aid concert on Saturday.

The children will perform alongside a number of other artists during the show, which will be on at Westborough Church from 7pm.

They will be singing by arrangement with their headteacher Louise Finlay, following rehearsals with director of music Martin Richardson, and will be appearing under the baton of guest conductor Ollie Barron.

Other artists include Mike Leigh, singer and vicar of St Mark’s in Newby, jazz musician Frank James, baritone soloist Mark Haynes and organist Chris Wright.

The show is part of a series of events being held for Christian Aid week.

Also on Saturday the Scalby churches will be holding their Christian Aid fair at St Laurence’s Community Rooms from 10am to 2pm.

There will be stalls for Fairtrade goods, plants, cakes, books, bric-a-brac, raffle and tombola, and a better clothes boutique and car wash.

On Sunday there will be a sponsored walk starting from St Michael’s Church in Filey Road at 2pm.

And there will be a cake stall at Boyes in Queen Street from Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm daily.
