Scarborough musician Shelagh Revell has set off on a sponsored bike ride - towing a mini double bass.

Shelagh is cycling from Marine Drive to the Sage Arts Centre in Gateshead to raise money for Orchestra North East.

She was waved off by supporters at The Watermark Cafe, who provided a hearty breakfast.

Along the way, Shelagh will be stopping off at schools to teach youngsters about the double bass and hopefully create some interest in the instrument.

Shelagh, who has played the double bass since she was 12, will be performing with Orchestra North East in Gateshead on July 7 with 200 other musicians and singers.
