LONDON hip-hop group N-Dubz is the next big act to play at the open-air theatre, on Saturday.
They have had eight top-40 hit singles, the most successful being I Need You, which charted at number five. Their debut album Uncle B came out in 2008 and debuted at number 11 on the albums chart.
The band announced via their various websites that it has since been certified platinum for shipments of over 300,000 in the UK.
Their second album, Against All Odds, was released in 2009 and reached number 6. It went platinum within about two months.
Taking a break from her duties as X-Factor’s newest judge, Tulisa will join bandmates Dappy and Fazer along with a full compliment of dancers and musicians to perform a one-off show called Love. Live. Life. The band are enjoying their second TV series, Being N-Dubz, on Channel 4 as well as their third consecutive platinum album and a top-10 DVD.
They have won Mobo awards for three years running and were awarded their first for best newcomer before they had even produced an album.
The recent 2011 Music Power 100, published in the Guardian, named the group as the 62nd most influential people in the world’s music industry, placing them just behind Harvey Goldsmith and musical powerhouse Jay-Z. A spokesman for the event promoters, Entourage Global, said: “This is a monumental signing. The town has never had anything as big as this for the younger generation. This is the full arena show”.
