A NEW radio station has been launched on the internet in Scarborough.
Red Cherry Radio will support and play the best unsigned music from the town and around Yorkshire.
Founder Samuel Holmes says: “It is a voluntary project involving people from the local music scene who want to be involved in promoting unsigned bands and artists to get airplay and give recogniton to the undiscovered talent out there.
“We will be beginning with one show a week to see how popular the shows are”.
The station will broadcast information about local gigs and music events, interviews and live perfomances from local original artists, and local guest presenters and producers.
Red Cherry Radio will operate a strict no-covers policy. “All music that gets airplay will have to be new music from unsigned arists and bands”, says Sam.
Anybody who wants to be considered for airplay on the new station should email tracks with permission to use them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
“The music can be from any genre, from acoustic-based singer-songwriter stuff to full on dance music, from electro-pop to folk; we will consider any original tracks”, Sam says.
