A new GP surgery has been created in Scarborough following the merger of Norwood House and Trafalgar Medical Practice.

The combined practice has been named Brook Square Surgery and is based at what was Trafalgar Medical Practice in Trafalgar Street West.

It was officially opened by Cllr David Jeffels, chairman of Scarborough Council’s health and wellbeing scrutiny committee.

He said: “It is an exciting new chapter for health care in Scarborough’s town centre, both for staff and patients, because it will see the development of health care for some 12,000 patients by bringing together eight GPs into one single team.

“On behalf of everyone involved, I think all the staff and GPs who have worked hard to bring about this excellent facility.

“The medical team is to be commended for involving patients in consultations, which resulted in 94 per cent of hose who responded supporting the creation of this centre.”

Dr Hamp, of the GPs at the practice, said: “We would like to thank our patients and staff for their support in creating this new practice. We are looking forward to working with new colleagues to continue to provide excellent services.”
