A SUPER slimmer has lost pounds but gained cash to help out animals in need in Scarborough.

Norma Kitson, a member of the Hunmanby Slimming World Group, asked friends and family to sponsor her to lose a stone before Christmas.

She completed the challenge, making her total weight loss so far over six stone.

Norma raised £228, which went towards buying dog food and treats for the dogs at Cliff Top Kennels, Burniston, which helps find new homes for abandoned and unwanted animals.

Slimming World leader Kaye Turner said: “Norma has done this off her own back and all her family and friends have supported her.

“She joined the group in January this year and we’re so very proud of her. She’s a big influence in the group and encourages other members.”

Kennel staff member Suzanna Douglass said: “When Norma rang us up we were delighted. It was such a fantastic surprise and we’re very grateful. The food and treats will come in very useful.”
