North Bay search for missing man

THERE was a full-scale search for a missing West Yorkshire man yesterday by emergency services in the area around Scarborough’s Sea Life Centre.

The alarm was raised at 3.15am after police found a holdall belonging to the missing man.

Police are concerned for the welfare of 50-year-old Phillip Lawrence from the Heptonstall area of Halifax and have appealed for information on his whereabouts.

He is described as white, 6ft 2ins tall and of stocky build. He has pale skin, receding shaven brown hair, brown eyes, a goatee beard and normally wears glasses.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Officers are becoming increasingly concerned for Mr Lawrence’s welfare, and ask that he contact officers as soon as possible. Mr Lawrence was reported missing yesterday and was last heard from just after midnight. Following enquiries it is believed that Mr Lawrence may be in the Scarborough area of North Yorkshire.”
