The figures are in stark contrast to last year when attendance was hit by appalling weather.
Qdos, one of the leading panto providers was at 70 per cent of its target take of £20 million across its 23 pantomimes, with £14.4 million in the box office by mid-December.
Its shows include Cinderella at the Birmingham Hippodrome starring Brian Conley, Lynda Bellingham and Basil Brush, and Robinson Crusoe in Glasgow, starring John Barrowman and the Krankies. It also has the services of the Chuckle Brothers in Hull, Linda Lusardi and Sam Kane in Wolverhapton, Joe Pasquale in Nottingham and Craig Revel Horwood in Dartford.
