TWO novice runners from Scarborough have taken up the challenge of running the Brighton Marathon to raise £1,000 for the RNLI.

Fiona Pollin and Lee Gamwell will take on the huge 26-mile challenge in aid of the RNLI on Sunday April 15.

The pair were originally going to do the event as a personal challenge, but decided to raise money when friends, family and colleagues offered their support.

Fiona said: “We have lived by the sea most of our lives and Lee was a lifeguard for over 10 years so the RNLI was an obvious charity.

“We also have a few friends and colleagues that volunteer for the RNLI and we know what a huge commitment they make.”

Fiona and Lee are hoping that through a few hours of running - and some aches and pains - they can raise £1,000 for the RNLI.

They would like to thank Laura Baudino at Eze-Fitness in Dunslow Road for providing membership of the gym at a discounted price to help with the training. The RNLI is entirely funded by donations.
