MEMBERS of Compass gym are in training for Race for Life later this month.
More than 15 women who work at or use the Barry’s Lane centre plan to take part in the Cancer Research UK fundraiser along Marine Drive.
“A lot of people have been or know someone who has been affected by cancer and want to do something to help,” said Compass manager Laura Bluck.
“Some of the women have used it as a goal to get fit to run or walk the course,” she said.
The gym has had a banner and T-shirts made for the day – Sunday May 13.
The three-mile course starts at the Sea Life Centre and follows a route which takes in the Open Air Theatre, The Sands and Royal Albert Drive before participants make their way back along the Drive.
Race for Life organisers say numbers of participants are down on last year.
They hope 1,500 women will sign up, so far 600 have put their names down.
There is still time for women to enter the race. The cut-off day is Thursday May 10.
