Outdoor fun and learning was the order of the day for youngsters from Northstead School as they spent an action-packed day at Peasholm Park.

Around 90 children, aged six and seven, took part in activities such as pond dipping, orienteering, a scavenger hunt, tree identification and boat building.

The children and staff were joined by helpers from Peasholm Park Friends and Manor Road Nurseries.

Linda Harper, Friends group chairman, said: “It was a great success. The children really enjoyed it and they were so well behaved.

“They were outdoors all day and were kept busy with all the activities. It was a wonderful day for them - and we all enjoyed it too!”

Mrs Harper added that schools are welcome to get in touch with the Friends group if they’re planning a trip to the park.

Members can help with organising the visit and can also lend a hand on the day.
