People urged to take up volunteering roles

MORE people are being encouraged to take up volunteering in the Scarborough area.

Recent studies by Volunteering England show that volunteering brings many positive benefits to both volunteers and the people they help.

The research found that volunteering can increase volunteers’ longevity, reduce stress and depression, help them keep fit and enable them to cope better with illness when it occurs. It also helped to develop a stronger sense of purpose and motivation and improved confidence and self-esteem.
