A student at Whitby’s Benson Stage Academy Tilly-Lou Noble, 18, has gained her first teaching diploma, in freestyle dance.

A pupil of the academy since the age of three, Tilly has worked hard and gained many distinctions in her other subjects and hopes to take more teaching qualifications in the future.

The exam consisted of a full written portfolio covering warm up and cool down, lesson plans, choreography, history of dance style, music, anatomy and health and safety.

She received an excellent written report from examiner Maureen Slater.

Principal of the academy, Julia Trillo-Howard, praised Tilly’s work ethic and determination, saying: “She is an inspiration to the younger students in the academy and has been a pleasure to teach over the years.”

The academy had an outstanding year of results with a 100% pass rate – results were at a record breaking high with excellent marks over all subjects and 74 distinctions.
