Place bids for silent auction

MEMBERS of a Scarborough sports club will be holding a silent auction on Saturday to help raise funds for a new desperately needed clubhouse.

It has been organised by members of Hackness Tennis Club and will take place in the village hall between 2pm and 4.30pm.

Glynis Francis, one of the committee members, said she originally came up with the idea and there were a number of generous donations for the auction.

She added: “Everyone is welcome and we need lots of people to come along and bid. You can’t miss it because we’ve got banners up telling people about it.”

Items which will be auctioned will include barbecues, a week’s stay in a holiday cottage, dinner for two, gift vouchers and local paintings.

Refreshments will be available and there will also be a tombola.
