Vote for Briercliffe in the battle of the playgrounds! That’s the message coming loud and clear from one community in Scarborough.
The Briercliffe playground is one of 36 deserving playgrounds throughout the UK short listed in a competition being run by Flora, with support from Tesco and Groundwork UK.
The rules are simple; the playground with the most public votes at the close of voting on Thursday September 20 will win the makeover.
An army of residents from the Briercliffe community, including many children that would directly benefit from a revamped playground, have been out in force to encourage people to vote for their local facility.
Residents across Scarborough and North Yorkshire are being called upon to lend their support and help Briercliffe reach the top of the leaderboard.
The playground currently stands in third place behind a playground in Lancashire and one in the North East.
A spokesperson for the Briercliffe community said: “Briercliffe playground is a much loved community facility but it’s in desperate need of some tender loving care.
“Winning this competition would allow that dream to come true and make a real difference to the lives of local children.
“We are the only playground in North Yorkshire battling to win the competition and so we are calling on everyone throughout the county to vote for us and help us to our achieve our goal.”
