A SCARBOROUGH man – whose father starred in the Black and White Minstrel Show – is looking for more information about this photograph.

Stephen Rawlings, of Esplanade, contacted the Evening News in the hope of finding out more about the dedication, which reads “To Ted and Winnie of The New Inn”.

The photograph was taken at the Futurist during the first summer season of the show in 1960.

Mr Rawlings’ father, Les, was a principal singer in the show, but appeared purely on TV until the late 1960s.

He said: “Scarborough was the very first stage show I believe. I was hoping to find out who Ted and Winnie were and why everyone in the show had signed the picture.”

Mr Rawlings was at a show reunion event in Brighton during the summer and showed the photo to some of the dancers, who are now in their 70s.

He said: “They were really excited to see it.”

He added that George Mitchell, the instigator of the Black and White Minstrel Show, was his godfather.
