Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in Scarborough.

The victim, a 19-year-old local man, was punched outside the Opera House Casino on St Thomas Street sometime between 3.30am and 4am on Sunday August 11.

He was taken to Scarborough Hospital where he was treated for a minor injury to his ribs.

Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward with information.
