A POLICE operation was launched on Scarborough’s South Bay when a missing woman was found walking in to the sea.
The woman was a 46-year-old who had been reported missing from the Wakefield area on Tuesday morning.
West Yorkshire Police eventually contacted the woman on her mobile phone. She told them she was in Scarborough, and threatened to walk in to the sea.
Scarborough Police were then contacted to assist with returning the woman safely home.
Four police vehicles arrived on the South Bay at 6.54pm on Tuesday to find the woman walking along the tide line opposite the Futurist Theatre.
An ambulance also attended.
She was taken in to police custody for her own safety at 7.15pm.
