Police plea following vandalism at school

Scarborough police are urging residents to report any incidents of anti-social behaviour in and around the grounds of Scalby School.

The most recent incident was last weekend when someone set fire to the goal nets on the school football pitch and littered the grounds with beer bottles and takeaway cartons.

This comes just days before the school’s 70th anniversary, which falls this Saturday.

PC Alan Robson, of Scarborough Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Although this may seem like a relatively minor issue it is causing great annoyance to the staff at the school who have been forced to spend money and time – which would be better spent with pupils – tidying up and repairing damage. I am appealing to local people to help put a stop to this mindless behaviour.”

Please call 101, select option 2, and ask for Alan Robson or Scarborough police. Or call 0800 555 111.
