Chance to quiz party leaders at area event

THE Scarborough Urban Area Forum is giving local residents the chance to put their questions to local leaders at a special question time event to be held in September.

The forum held a similar meeting in June where residents posed their questions to a panel of senior officers from the various local authorities however this time the panel will be made up of senior councillors from the various local political parties.

The question time event is part of the Urban Area Forum’s theme for 2012, local democracy, and the forum’s support group is very keen to give residents an opportunity to speak directly to local decision makers.

The event will take place at 7pm on Wednesday September 14 at Scarborough Library on Vernon Road and the Area Forum’s support group is inviting residents to submit their questions before the event to ensure that a wide range of issues and topics can be covered.

Forum chairman Lindy Rowley said: “Our theme this year is all about making sure that residents can get involved and understand in local politics and are able influence local decisions, this question time event is an exciting way of making this happen.”
