SCARBOROUGH Council has engaged in a regional partnership to boost the town’s economy.
The authority has forged links with the All Party Parliamentary Group for Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire.
The group’s aim focuses on agreeing shared actions and commitments to inform and influence the Government, with Scarborough Council keen to push the importance of renewable energy and tourism and culture.
Cllr Derek Bastiman, Scarborough Council’s cabinet member for Strategic Planning and Regeneration, said: “Our borough is already well down the road to securing investment in the offshore wind industry so this particular piece of work is a very good match for us.
“The Parliamentary Group is looking to further explore the direct opportunities offered by the industry as well as the knock on effect it will have in terms of its supply chain and servicing needs.
“The work will include looking at any barriers to investment so that clear actions can be agreed to unlock growth.
“One of the strengths of the group is that political differences are set aside and a united voice formed to keep the momentum moving forwards.
“It is about working together.”
