A POPULAR Scarborough nightclub is due to have its licence reviewed by Scarborough Council’s Licensing Sub-Committee on Tuesday from 10.30am.
The hearing for Vivaz, in Huntriss Row, has been called after police raised concerns over a rise in the number of crimes which have been directly linked to the venue.
Officers have requested that extra conditions be imposed on the venue’s licence including reducing opening hours at weekends.
But owner Paul Murray said he has complied with previous police requests to cut crime and disorder and launched a petition to try and save the venue.
Police have said that although the number of incidents reduced after new measures were put in place at Vivaz, following previous meetings, crime has subsequently increased once again.
Committee members have a number of options including:
l to modify conditions
l to exclude a licensable activity
l to remove the designated premises supervisor
l to suspend the licence for up to three months
l to revoke the licence.
