Scarborough Poppy Appeal supporters were honoured for their efforts during a special ceremony at the Town Hall. Long-service awards were given out, along with corporate certificates of appreciation.

The award winners were as follows: Five-years’ service: Mick Herrington, Denis Ward, Jan Sheppard, Bob Richards, Paul Nightingale and Mick Westwood.

Ten years’ service: Dave Jordan, Pete Parkinson and Madge Parkinson.

Twenty years’ service: Headley Rutherford.

Thirty years’ service: Stephen Deyes.

Corporate certificates of appreciation were presented to Gary and Linda from the Golden Ball pub, fundraisers Linda and Graham Smailes and Paul Mathers of the Army Cadet Force - Scarborough Attachment.

Poppy Appeal organiser Beryl Anderson said: “It was a wonderful event and everyone really appreciated receiving their awards.
