DELIGHTED passers-by on Scarborough seafront gathered to watch a porpoise which had made its way into the harbour.
Crowds watched from the slipway off Sandside as the animal swam up and down yesterday afternoon.
One spectator said: “It’s been here for quite a while now and there are lots of people watching it.
“It seems perfectly happy.”
Humber coastguard said that the porpoise hadn’t caused any disruption and that is was a fairly unusual occurrence for one to come all the way into the harbour.
However, porpoises can be spotted regularly further out to sea off the coast of Scarborough.
