Scarborough Sea Cadets took part in an inspection event which was attended and overseen by Eastern area officer Commander Charles Bagot-Jewitt,

The cadets made sure they were looking as smart as possible for the event, which was also attended by Scarborough’s deputy mayor Cllr Pat Marsburg.

Cllr Marsburg said: “I had never been to one of these events before and it was excellent. To me, the cadets should be so proud of themselves - they’ve got a real team spirit.

“They were responsive and responsible, with a good cross section of different ages. They looked very smart and held themselves correctly.

“They were so proud that the Commander had come to see them and they were a credit to their group leaders.”

Cllr Marsburg added: “I think what the Sea Cadet organisation does is great - I didn’t realise it was a charity. It gives young people a sense of responsibility. They have such enthusiasm for what they do and the youngsters are really looking forward to going away on camps at Easter and in August.”
