Protest over store plans

NEWLY-FORMED protest group Scarborough Town Against Tesco Store (STATS) is hosting an open discussion with MP Robert Goodwill on Friday.

Residents Malcolm Short, Joy White and Sharon Witty launched a petition near Poundland in Westborough on Saturday and are now inviting people to come to the discussion.

It will take place at 10.30am and the venue is yet to be confirmed.

Sharon Witty, who has run Chomley Holiday flats in Columbus Ravine for the last 10 years, said: “They’re looking at taking the parking away on Columbus Ravine and if they do we won’t be able to trade.

“This means everything to us - we could go out of business.”

If you are interested in attending the discussion and would like to be notified about the venue call Sharon on (01723) 367292.
