PEOPLE are invited to a gathering on Scarborough’s South Bay beach to celebrate the start of Coastival.

The festival, which runs from Friday until Sunday, will kick off with a “circle blessing” at 8am on Friday on the sands in front of the Grand Hotel.

Participants are invited to join a giant circle of people who are getting together with the aim of blessing the three days of art and music.

A group called Star Temple is leading the gathering along with Coastival organisers from Create.

Martin Wood, of Star Temple, said: “We are inviting like-minded people to come along and join us.

“The more people the better as it will be more powerful for Scarbor- ough.

“We are timing it to coincide with the full moon and there will also be a focus on world peace.

“Everyone is welcome to come along. We’ve had quite a bit of interest already.”

Meet at 8am on the South Bay beach on Friday.
