MEMBERS of the Heirloom Quilters have fundraising all sewn up.

Their biennial show at the Spa in Scarborough raised £3,000 which has been donated to the Scarborough and District branch of the Alzheimer’s Society.

The cheque was handed over at Plaxton Court, Scarborough, where the group meets on the second Monday of every month.

“We like our money to stay local,” said Janet Crossley, secretary of the Heirloomers.

“The Spa is good to us and we want to be good to the town,” she said.

Much of the cash was raised from the raffling of a quilt.

In the past the quilters have donated to other charities including Mencap, the RNLI and St Catherine’s Hospice.

Members of the group come from Scarborough, Filey, Hunmanby and Whitby. Their next meeting is a Christmas party.

New members are welcome to the first meeting of the new year on Monday January 9 at 7pm.
