Fans of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway are being invited to design the offical logo for the attraction’s 40th anniversary next year.
To mark the milestone visitors, members and junior members are being set the task of designing the anniversary emblem.
Children up to the age of 16 are being invited to take part in the competition, with the winner announced this October.
The chosen logo will feature on items ranging from retail products, marketing campaigns and on all 400,000 North Yorkshire Moors Railway 2013 timetables to mark the landmark year for the charity.
The competition will be judged by a panel including the Railway’s very own Artist in Residence Chris Ware, railway staff, and will be overseen by the Railways designer.
Danielle Ramsey marketing manager said: “The winning logo will be the official emblem used in the lead-up to, and during, the 40th Anniversary for all activities associated with the celebrations as well as all publications and campaigns used in 2013. We are also offering the winner 4 Santa Special tickets for Christmas 2012.”
The North Yorkshire Moors Railway was re-opened in 1973 by a group of enthusiastic volunteers determined not to see the line closed down.
The railway will be commemorating this important event throughout 2013 with a series of events and fundraising appeals to mark this historic year.
