Visitors flocked to Scarborough’s Town Hall for the annual Mayoress’ Community Fund summer fair.

The event featured stalls, cakes and entertainment, plus an appearance by Scarborough’s Town Crier Alan Booth. The Mayoress this year is Hilary Groves, who is heading up the fund and supporting Pat Marsburg in her mayoral year.

Pat said the fair raised just over £480 and that MIND was able to recruit more volunteers at their stall, which was “wonderful”. The Mayoress’ Community Fund is a well-established fundraising scheme which benefits the local community throughout the borough of Scarborough. Funds are raised during each mayoral year, which begins in May. Applications are welcomed for funds between September and January, with funds distributed to successful groups the following May.
