THE woman who suffered serious leg injuries in a seafront fairground ride accident in Bridlington is recovering at home.

Ann Smallwood, pictured, of Wickersley, Rotherham, said she had suffered sleepless nights and nightmares since she and four-year-old great-niece Isabella were flipped out of the Jungle River log flume ride in Bridlington.

The 58-year-old said their carriage had done one lap of the ride when it suddenly ground to a halt.

She said: “They started it again and we went up to the highest part of the ride. But when we went down the steep part it quickly gathered speed.

“I knew it was going too fast, and it went to the bottom and crashed.”

Isabella was taken by ambulance to Scarborough Hospital, but Mrs Smallwood’s injuries were more serious and she needed to be flown to Hull Royal Infirmary.
