A SCARBOROUGH man has completed a 20-mile coastal run in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.
Paul Drake, a produce team leader at Tesco, ran from the Bridlington store to the one where he works in Westwood, Scarborough.
The 46-year-old, of Milton Avenue, raised £290 for the Scarborough branch of the Alzheimer’s Society, Tesco’s chosen charity of the year.
He said: “It took three hours and it was quite foggy on the way out of Bridlington. Some of it was tough, but I do go out running regularly and go to the gym.
“My legs were aching, but it was okay. I’m really pleased with the amount raised and really appreciate the donations from customers and colleagues.”
Mr Drake is the store’s “charity champion” and said he was delighted to kick off a year of fundraising in this way.
His wife Janet, who works on the customer service desk, helped collect in the donations with a fellow member of staff in store.
