Police have issued CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with a theft from a Helmsley shop.
The man entered the Cost Cutter store at around 4.10pm on Saturday (November 2) and asked a member of staff to change several £20 notes into £10 notes.
He then changed his mind several times, trying to confuse the cashier, and then left with more cash than he handed over.
The suspect was wearing a red checked jacket over a stripy top and had dark hair and a dark complexion.
Police are warning shop keepers to be on their guard when people ask for change, especially during the busy run up to Christmas.
Anyone who recognises the man or has any other information should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Kay Campbell or email email@example.com.
Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
