Rescuers are warning Scarborough beachgoers to remain cautious following a string of call-outs this week as temperatures continue to soar.
Coastguards received two separate reports of missing children yesterday and the lifeboat was called out to a struggling kayaker off Marine Drive.
Phil Saltonstall, watch officer for Humber Coastguard, said: “We had a number of what we call standard summer call-outs.
“It’s pretty regular. Summer is characterised for us by a lot of incidents like this - missing children, people floating out to see on lilos, holiday makers on the coast who bite off a bit more than they can chew.”
The children were found safe and well and the kayaker was brought back to safety by Scarborough lifeguards.
