A Scarborough-born firefighter is beginning his training ahead of tackling an almighty challenge to run the coast of America.

Juatin Rowe, watch manager for North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue, has raised more than £100,000 for various charities over the past 19 years running and walking the length and breadth of the UK. In preparation for the marathon challenge, Justin, along with ex soldier and colleague Terrance Gregg, are to run almost 300 miles from York to the Royal Marine Base in Chivenor, North Devon on May 30. The pair are running around 296 miles in 12 days while pulling a Burley Nomad trailer carrying personal kit and will be sleeping at fire stations and camping along the route.
