RESIDENTS and visitors to Scarborough made the most of soaring temperatures yesterday as the area basked in glorious sunshine.

According to the BBC the temperature was still at 28C at 4pm with lower temperatures of between 15C and 18C forecast for the rest of the week.

Among the many visitors to Scarborough’s golden beaches yesterday included the Allan family who produced their very own Scarborough Castle.

Pupils at Seamer and Irton Primary School made sure they had plenty of water to drink during their sports day – the rising temperatures meant their longer distance races had to be postponed until the cooler weather arrived.

And students from Yorkshire Coast College took advantage of the sunshine and topped up their tans during lunch.
