A SCARBOROUGH scooterist was joined by thousands of others as he embarked on a mammoth fundraising trip.

Eastfield scooter club member Jeffrey Reeve rode down to London, across the city and back to raise money for Eastfield 49th Scout group and local girl Charlotte Hawkins, who has battled a number of health problems and is now at college.

Mr Reeve was joined on his journey by scooter club members from all over the UK.

He set off from the Eastfield pub on Saturday with around 40 local club members, who stayed with him as far as the Humber Bridge.

The 43 year old, of Ryefield Road, was then met by hundreds of other scooterists from towns such as Hull, Lincoln, Peterborough, Nottingham and Norwich.

A number of enthusiasts from various clubs in London flanked him through the city, led by a police escort.

Mr Reeve, who rides a Vespa Sport 100, said: “I set this up in four weeks and have had lots of support from all the scooter clubs.

“When you do something like this the lads are always willing to come and meet you.”

He added that he is planning to put all the money raised towards new tents and equipment for the Scout group and a holiday for Charlotte and her mum Georgina.
