CROWDS enjoyed fun and games at the annual Scarborough and District Scout Fair despite the weekend’s unpredictable weather.
It is a scouting tradition which has been going for around 26 years. The event, which was held yesterday at Northstead School playing fields, was postponed from the previous weekend.
District commissioner Bonnie Purchon said: “I was keeping my fingers crossed for the weather. The weekend is very important for all the groups that take part.”
Last year a total of about £3,000 was raised – with a scout group from Westborough Methodist Church managing to raise around £1,300.
There were five fund-raising stalls and the groups which took part included: 2nd ELO, as well as 1st, 42nd, 46th and 49th Scarborough. The event was organised by Cllr John Blackburn, Scarborough mayor and the mayoress, his wife Jackie.
